What does an Imprints parent educator do?
An Imprints parent educator provides information, support, and encouragement to parents of young children through home visits and group meetings. Parent educators meet monthly with families to share parenting strategies and information on each child’s stage of development, and to answer parents’ questions and concerns related to their child’s development and behavior. Parent educators provide parent-child activities that support the parent-child bond and stimulate the child’s growth and development. Parent educators offer health and developmental screenings to ensure that any potential delays are identified early and, when needed, children are referred for additional services.
Where are parent educators located?
Parent educators are located at, and work with, many community sites in Forsyth County including early childhood centers, More at Four classrooms, the Downtown Health Plaza, the Forsyth County Health Department and the following Winston-Salem/Forsyth County elementary schools: Brunson, Easton, and Old Richmond.
Why would a parent seek services from Imprints?
Parents request parent education services from Imprints for a variety of reasons. Often parents just want to know as much as they can about child development. First-time parents of newborns often request services to help ease them into the transition to parenthood. Some parents have concerns about a child’s development. An Imprints parent educator can screen children for developmental delays, connect parents to additional early intervention resources when necessary, and provide activities that the parent and child can do together to stimulate development. As children go through normal developmental stages, they sometimes present challenging behaviors. A parent may request services from Imprints to get ideas of how they can proactively address these behaviors. All parents can benefit from services. Imprints seeks to help good parents become great parents!
